Two Year Old Gift Ideas (Montessori Based)
My daughter turns 2 in August, so I thought I’d put together a gift guide for 2 year olds. We are loosely montessori based in our home, and really value a few things:
Not having too many toys/clutter
Toys that last a long time/ avoiding waste
Open ended toys that spark creativity and play (as opposed to battery operated etc.)
If this sounds like the things you value as well, here is the gift guide for you!
Magnatiles: We have one small set of these, and they became a huge hit around 20 months. These are a quality toy and I plan to slowly build up how many we have. My husband and I also enjoy them.
Wooden Blocks Set: A quality block set can be kept forever and is great for open ended play.
Bubble Machine: This one is just for fun but what toddler doesn’t love bubbles? We’ve actually gone through 2 cheaper bubble machines already, so I figured I would invest in a high quality one.
Scooter: My daughter has been eyeing every scooter at the park since she turned 1. I did some research and although it is a bit pricy, this one seems like the best. It looks like it will last, and we have friends who have this one and love it.
Balance Board: I am trying to invest in more pieces for balance, climbing etc. that can be played with inside, since we live in AZ and heat is an issue.
Musical instrument Set: Maybe not the best for your ears, but I love musical instrument sets for kids.
Animal Figurines: Another one great for open ended, independent play. No limit to how many ways kids can play with these.
Nugget- I’ve actually heard from many people that the nugget is better for older kids and younger ones tend to not play with it too much. But, we know this is something we want to invest in long term. It has a lot of purposes and uses and is something that can last multiple kids.
Pikler Triangle- If you leave somewhere warm, having indoor climbing pieces is a great idea. Kids are natural climbers, and providing them a safe space to do so is a great idea!
Lovevery Gift Card- I love lovevery and their boxes, so gift cards are always helpful.
Experiences- Things like tickets for the zoo or childrens museum are great!
Hope this helps you!
